Forever in My Memories

                Long ago, in the planet of Lelivania, there lived lels that lived peacefully.  Among those lels was a couple who loved their child so dearly. One day, there was an attack. Lels jumped, screamed, and ran everywhere. It was chaos. The couple who loved their child so dearly had to sacrifice themselves to send the child to a planet called Earth. Earth was almost the exact opposite of Lelivania, so the couple used their powers to change the looks, traits, and also sealed the baby’s powers. The planet was completely destroyed.

                Apparently, I was part of that tragedy. However, unlike other lels, I somehow did not have powers. Other lels tease me for I am different. I live with my Aunt Leafa and Uncle Airo. They always told me that my parents died long ago with our destroyed planet. Well, right now, I am practically a normal 16-year old boy living here in planet Earth.

                My school life isn’t really that bad. Because of my handsome looks and friendly personality, I was able to become one of the most popular men in school. It was easy for me to adapt to the human culture and not worry about keeping a secret about being a lel because I did not have powers.

                Recently, meaning about a week ago, I felt this strange presence following me wherever I went. One day, I was eating my lunch at the rooftop of the school with my friends. When suddenly, time froze and I was the only one moving. Then out of the blue, there appeared a lel. Then I found out he was the strange presence following me this whole time.

                I shouted for help but no one could hear me. I tried running away but the door was locked. I started to panic. This has never happened in my life before. He came closer and closer to me.

                “Time has stopped but you are moving. That means you are a lel,” said the creepy man.

                I was shocked by his words. How did he find out? I don’t have any powers! I thought I could live my life normally like other humans.

                “Don’t say that out loud! If a human finds out we are lels, you know what will happen!” I said with a  shaky voice.

                “Hahaha! Of course I know what will happen! Do you think I am dumb? No one can hear us for time stopped!” he shouted.

                “Who are you?” I said with fear in my eyes.

                “I am the all-powerful Levi! Humans have treated us lels with hatred! I am here to show the Earth how powerful lels are! Do you want to join me? By the way, what are your powers?” he asked.

                “I… um… do not have any.” I said with embarrassment.

                “Hahaha! And you call yourself a lel?! You are weak and useless after all! Since you heard my plans, you might say something to the council. That means I have to get rid of you!” he said

                I was shocked by his words and slowly moved back. I did not notice that I was near the edge. Levi slowly approached me.

                “No! Please! Don’t push me!” I begged

                “You are not needed by lels!” he said and pushed me down the building.

                This is when my life officially changed. Surprisingly, I did not die. As I was falling down the building, the old wristwatch that mother gave me glowed.  I guess that saved me. I had no injuries, nothing at all.

                I quickly went home and rushed to my Aunt Leafa. I was so excited to tell her the news.

                “Aunt Leafa!” I shouted.

                “What is it, my darling?” she asked.

                “The wristwatch mother gave me glowed!” I said.

                “Lato, what happened to you today?” she asked with a worried look.

                “Well, it’s a long story,” I said.

                I told her everything that happened that day. She was shocked and rushed to the storage room. She came back and handed me something.

                “I didn’t know this day would come. Here, this is from your mother,” she said with tears in her eyes.

                 I was puzzled. She gave me the letter that was written to me from my mother. I opened the letter and this is what it stated:

Dearest child,

By the time you are reading this, something bad must have already happened. Your father and I went to save Lelivania.

If I am not with you today, I am very sorry that I can’t be with you through sad and happy times. I just want you to know that I love you so much.

I’m guessing that right now you are confused, so I am going to tell you what has happened here.

In our planet, there was a lel named Levi. He went to Earth to learn their culture. Humans bullied him there so he came back to our planet. Unfortunately, when he came back, everyone forgot about him. He swore to destroy our planet and Earth. When I learned about this, it was too late to stop him. He started destroying our planet. The trees and buildings waved their last goodbye. Flowers looked like they were crying. It was truly a chaos. Now, the planet is like a garbage dump. We wanted to save it, but apparently we failed.

My child, I ask of you. Please save the planet Earth. If you think that you can’t save it because you do not have powers, then you are wrong. I have sealed your powers before we sent you to earth. All your powers are in the wrist watch I gave you. Aunt Leafa can tell you what to do.

I pray for your safety. I love you!

                I was overflowing with tears and sadness, yet at the same time I felt scared. I just could not accept this. I ran to the park and bumped into a beautiful girl.

                “Are you okay?” the girl said

                I was speechless. Her beauty was just something I could not describe. She was just plainly beautiful.

                “My name is Yva. What’s yours?, she asked.

                “L-Lato. Lato Mito,” I said.

                After that, we spent so much time together. She was the girl who made me forget all my problems. I even forgot that Levi was still around. I spent my days happily. She became my girlfriend, whom I loved so much. People were jealous of her, but we decided that we shouldn’t mind it. We called each other every day, we met each other every day, and we both created many other wonderful memories.

                 Until recently, I felt something was wrong. Yva started avoiding me and started creating a distance from me. I found out that my Aunt Leafa was the main cause of this. I found out that she threatened her. I stormed in my house and stomped to my Aunt.

“Why did you do that?!” I shouted angrily.

”It is for your own good. I do not want you to get hurt,” she said.

“No. I think this is only for your own good. You are not making me happy. You are just ruining my life!” I said.

“No, Lato. Listen to me. Something bad is happening,” she said with a serious voice.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

“Levi started destroying Earth. He found out that although you have read your mother’s letter, you still forgot about him like it was just a joke. He was angered by it and started his plans. I was also afraid he may hurt Yva. That’s why I told her to avoid you,” she quickly said.

I quickly ran to the school rooftop, the first place I saw him. He was not there. I looked around and saw a little note stuck on the floor. It said:

Dearest Lato,

                You think I will destroy the Earth here? Of course not! I want you to guess where I am. Here are some clues:

Someone dear to you

It’s a house of that someone.

That someone is a girl.

You only have until 12 midnight. See you there!

                I immediately knew it was Yva’s house. I looked at my watch and saw it was about 5 minutes before the scheduled time. I quickly ran to her house and stormed through the door.  No one was there. I looked through the rooms. There was only one place left. That was the rooftop. It was locked. I had no strength to open it. Then, I remembered the letter. It said the wristwatch contained my powers. I then remembered that I didn’t ask my Aunt Leafa how to unseal it. I tried all sorts of things. I shouted words. I tried dropping, punching, kicking, and throwing it but they all did not work. After all of that, I was tired and wanted to give up.

                I thought and thought. There was something I didn’t do yet. I never gave it love. I hugged it like it was my mom. It suddenly glowed. I felt a sudden change in my body. I guess you could say I had powers. However, I did not know what exactly my powers were. I pushed the door but it didn’t go down. That meant I didn’t have super strength. I tried controlling the door with my mind and it opened.

                I was able to make it to the rooftop 5 seconds before 12 midnight. I rushed up the stairs and saw Levi and Yva. I suddenly remembered that if a human finds out you are a lel, you will turn into bubbles and will be sent back to Lelivania. You couldn’t go back to planet Earth anymore. I then knew I couldn’t use my powers.

                “Hahaha! You arrived here just in time!” he said.

“Let. Her. Go. Take me instead!” I said.

“No! If I take you and not her, this is going to be boring!” he said.

“Lato, save me please!!!” Yva begged.

I wanted to save her no matter what happened. I wanted her to be safe. I observed my surroundings and saw a knife on the floor. I quickly commanded the knife to stab him and it did.

“I- will-not-forget-this. Just-you-wait.”, he said.

                He then turned into bubbles and disappeared. I was terrified by his words but I did not mind it because Yva was my priority.

                Yva saw and heard everything that happened and was shocked. She then started crying.

                “Lato. You-are-a-lel?” she said.

                “Yes, I am. I am really sorry.” I said.

                We both started crying a life’s worth of tears. We hugged each other. I then noticed my hands and feet were starting to disappear.

                “Yva, I love you. Good bye.” I said as I was turning into bubbles.

                Then, the bubbles that were me started floating back to the planet. She forgot about me and lived the rest of her life; but whether I am dead or alive, I will never forget about her.
