It was one
cold evening in another world very much like ours when a baby girl was born.
Her cheeks had a light tint of red but she nevertheless was as fair as Snow
White. The whole city was rejoicing at the birth of this baby girl who would
soon become their princess. The whole palace was filled with laughter and
merry-making… well except for the baby girl and her mother who was crying. Her
mother – the queen, you see, is a very sensitive and sickly person. Her labor
was excruciatingly painful, as if getting surgery without anaesthesia. She
tried her best to hold in her tears at the after effect of her giving birth.
She soothed her baby to stop her from crying.
“Shhhh…
Now, now. ♫♪.” She said as she began to sing a lullaby with all her effort
amidst the pain. She suddenly felt something up her throat and by then the baby
was already asleep. She put a finger in her mouth in an attempt to choke it
out. A small black crystal came out of her mouth. It was such a strange thing.
Although it was black, it was gorgeous and had an enchanting feel.
Just a
while after the strange scene, the baby girl suddenly started to giggle cutely.
Her mother gave a quick but tender smile.
“When you
grow up, I wish that you would be able to love with all your heart and
hopefully be loved in return.” She lovingly said. She looked for a chain and
with her magic; it transformed the black crystal into a necklace. She placed it
around her neck to remind her of her baby.
“You, my
dear, shall be named Krystal Louie.” she said as she playfully tapped her
finger on little Krystal’s nose,
“Your dad
would be so happy when he comes back!” Her dad was indeed a busy person. He
recently went to settle an alliance with the neighboring kingdom.
A few weeks
passed and summer came.
Her dad,
King Mal of the kingdom Elatolia, had brought home an invitation for the annual
tea party at the neighboring kingdom. The family of three attended the tea
party. Only people with high social statuses could be seen there. One by one
people would come up to have a chat with the family. A normal conversation
would go something like:
“A pleasant
evening, how do you all do? It is such a delight to be able to chat. Oh! Good
Heavens! What a lovely baby!”
This, of
course, was said with a smile and responded with a smile also.
Queen
Sharon was Krystal’s mom. She loved drinking all sorts of tea. The King would
often bring back a set of tea when he comes back from his annual visits to
other kingdoms. She was often told to drink only a moderate amount, though,
because of one certainly embarrassing problem. Drinking large amounts of liquid
would make her feel a need to go to the restroom very often. Because of her
restrictions to tea when she was pregnant, she found herself quickly addicted
to the tea at the annual tea party. And soon enough she quickly hurried off to
the nearest restroom. Without her knowing, the black crystal necklace’s clasp
had broken and it fell to the mushy soil.
They soon
went back to Elatolia.
A bit of
time passed yet again and already it was spring. The black crystal soon grew
into a black rose-like flower with chains surrounding it. An old witch one day
passed by and spotted the flower. She felt a bad aura around it.
“Ohhh!!!
Quickly, I must move as far away as I can from Elatolia. The baby who had
shaped this black crystal in her mother’s womb would be the cause of the
destruction of Elatolia!” She said, frightened, while using her powers on the
black flower. She then quickly hurried away.
Seasons
passed and Krystal was already five years of age. Everything usually went her
way and she had a lot of servants. But one day, she felt awfully lonely inside
the big palace. Her parents, you see, were quite busy.
“I want to
see mommmyyyy!!! And, and my dadddyyy!!!” She complained to her servants. Her
servants were really pitiful, having to listen to her complaints. She got
angrier and angrier as each hour passed.
And finally
midnight came and her parents were still away. A shriek was suddenly heard in
the palace. Every thing started to slowly levitate and the smallest things
started to vanish in thin air. Krystal was raging to the point that her newly
found power was uncontrollable. They quickly called her parents to come as soon
as possible as they finally acknowledged it as an emergency. Her parents soon
came and calmed her down. Krystal calmed down but her power was still
uncontrollable. She started crying. As time passed, her power grew stronger and
stronger. The whole palace looked as if a tornado was hurling in it. They tried
everything to stop it but it was of no use. Her mom finally decided to use her
last resort. She decided to send her to the human world with her friend as it
would be safer there.
She said
while weeping beside Krystal’s dad. “My dear Krystal Louie, please be good to
your uncle. I’m – we are very sorry we couldn’t be with you… always. Please
know that we will always love you.” She then kissed her forehead and that was
their last meeting. The kissed erased her memories.
Years
later, Krystal is already 18.
Just like
any normal teenager, she attended high school. She adopted a new surname.
Wicksea, it was the surname of her uncle. Her daily schedule consisted of going
to class; then she would go to the library after. She loved learning. Her looks
were nothing special except for her violet eyes. This, at first, caught
everyone’s attention but people soon got used to it.
She felt
that the library was very much familiar. It was often calm and peaceful there.
The sun shone brightly most of the time and she loved the feeling of warmth on
her skin.
One day,
she felt something was quite wrong. She stayed at her usual hangout, but
recently, bugs have been coming after her. They were poison bugs. But the
weirdest thing is that they never actually bit her.
After a few
more encounters with poison bugs, she finally got annoyed.
“Come
out!!! Whoever you are!!!”
Just then
she heard a cluster of books fall. She quickly went over to check who this
person was. She then saw a guy with golden blonde hair. Books were covering
some parts of his body. He was a beautiful boy. She immediately thought of the
Archangel Michael which she read in books.
“It’s not
me!!! I swear!!! I have no bugs with me!” he said which she responded with:
“Then how
did you know about the bugs?!”
As she said
this, he suddenly blushed.
“I was …
erm.. stalking…” he said shyly.
And this
was how they first met. They soon became closer with each other. The bugs strangely never came back
after her encounter with him. Little did she know that he was actually her
uncle Wicksea’s son. He was the crown prince of the neighboring kingdom and, of
course, his father was the king. His presence itself was so majestic that the
bugs started going away.
A few seasons
later, they became even closer and he soon started to grow feelings for her.
But he decided to keep it to himself. He didn’t want to make things awkward for
them, after all. He tried his best to always be near her so that those stupid
bugs would go away.
One day, as
Krystal was heading to their usual hang out, she overheard him and another
person talking.
“Her
kingdom is still in the middle of chaos. Her parent had recently passed away
protecting the kingdom. Her mom gave me a necklace to hand to her. It would
protect her. John, what should I do??? I don’t think it’s right to keep the
truth from her.”
She
overheard this and, magically, all her memories came flowing back. She wept.
A few days
later, the prince gave her the necklace. “Please wear this while I’m gone. It
would protect you in my place,” he said as he gave her a kiss on the forehead.
He left the human world to go back to his kingdom on his birthday. It was
finally his 18th birthday and that meant coronation. As much as he wanted to,
he knew it was something he couldn’t miss. Although everyone was merry-making,
he felt really depressed and lonely, only thinking of her.
Back in the
human world, Krystal was still feeling depressed over all the knowledge and
memories that she had just gained. She
was suddenly approached by a creepy-looking man.
“Do you
want to know how you can save your kingdom?” the guy said while smirking.
Krystal was really curious and of course agreed.
“You are
the cause of everything. Only your death would bring peace to Elatolia.” Those
words had stabbed her deep in her heart. She finally understood that it was her
fault. She was terrified at the thought of death but everything was breaking
her fragile heart.
The guy
handed her a poison bug.
“It’s your
choice. You know in your heart that I’m not lying.” He said as he left.
After a
while, she let the bug bite her. Before that, she took off the protective
charm, the necklace. She immediately felt a stinging pain but her heart was
still a heavier burden.
When the
prince came back, he felt happy to see her and she felt happy to see him. But
she was slowly dying. A few seasons passed until the prince finally noticed.
“Krystal…
are you sick?” He asked with worry. His eyes shone so brightly and honestly she
couldn’t bear to lie to him and nodded. His eyes started to water.
“It isn’t
too late… you just need a drop of my blood!” He said in desperation. She
decided this upon herself and was already sure of her decision. The prince
understood this and wept until she finally rested in peace.
After she
died, everyone’s memories of her were erased. The Kingdom of Elatolia
once again regained peace. The people started to recover from the crisis. But
actually, there was still one person who remembered her. Years later, this
golden-blonde haired boy had a child. On that cold evening, he decided to name
her Krystal.
